WPM is only one dimension
A one-minute word test favors fluent prose. Data entry may use KPH, coding uses more symbols, and transcription depends on sustained pace and listening.
Compare like with like
Compare results only when test duration, language, punctuation, correction rules, and keyboard layout are similar. A 15-second sprint and a five-minute work passage are not interchangeable.
Accuracy changes the meaning of speed
High raw speed with frequent corrections may produce less finished output than a slightly lower score with clean entry. Net speed and accuracy belong together.
Use job requirements carefully
When an employer provides a threshold, practice the same task format and duration. Do not assume a general web test reproduces a validated hiring assessment.
